Cardiac Rehab Program in Buffalo, NY
Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness
Cardiac Rehabilitation is one of the highest recommended therapies for heart disease by the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Cardiology. The evidence for the benefits of cardiac rehab is so strong that if your doctor does not refer you to a cardiac rehab program, we implore you to ask them directly for one.
Our Comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation program is a 12 week program where our specialized team consisting of physicians, exercise physiologists, registered dietitians, and health coaches guides patients in their journey to optimized health. The program is based on three simple, yet powerful, pillars: Regular Exercise, Heart Healthy Nutrition, and Healthy Mindset.
During each cardiac rehab session patients participate in a personalized workout program prescribed to them by our Medical Director. During each session patients are guided through the workout by one of our exercise physiologists. During every exercise session we monitor our patients’ heart rates and rhythms to ensure their safety and to allow everyone to proceed with confidence during their exercise. Patients will also participate in exercise workshops where they learn the skills to exercise at home and they will be provided with a personalized home exercise program upon completion of their office visits.
Heart Healthy Nutrition
Nutrition should be a core component of any heart health program. Throughout our cardiac rehab program, patients participate in watching 12 heart health education videos, 4 nutrition workshops, 11 cooking schools, and an hour long 1 on 1 session with one of our Registered Dietitians.
We all know stress is a risk factor for heart disease, and what’s more stressful than dealing with heart disease? As part of our cardiac rehab program, patients participate in 4 health mindset workshops where one of our health coaches will teach them about stress management, building healthy relationships, and goal setting. For patients trying to quit smoking to improve their health, we have an option for a one on one session with their health coach to create a quit smoking plan.
